My name is Chance and this is my story

My original name was Mojo. When I was a pup, I lived with a family who I thought loved me very much. Things were great for a while, but then one day I started to not feel too good. I thought my family would make me better, but I just felt worse as the days passed. I couldn’t understand why my family wouldn’t help me feel better.

One day they put me in a car, I was scared, I didn’t know where I was going and I felt so awful; my feet hurt and I was so hot, my skin hurt and I itched all over.

We came to a house, my family got out of the car and I waited to see what would happen next; they walked away. Then, a pretty lady looked at me in the car and she had tears in her eyes. I thought “why is she crying, did I do something wrong?”

She picked me up and hugged me tight, and took me in a room. The room was filled with other bulldogs; they came over and greeted me. They said “welcome, you are safe now. You will love it here. Watch how fast you will feel better. There were many others like you, some have stayed, others have found wonderful new homes”.

Little by little, I started to feel good. The lady and the man fussed over me, they fed me great food, gave me medicine and warm baths, they said my name Chance, over and over again. I guess they had a reason for that name. I heard them say something about a “second Chance”. They wrapped me in towels and held me tight. The other bulldogs kept me company and they said I was looking better and better.

Then one day the other bulldogs and the lady and man told me I was staying…for good! I am so happy, I have lots of friends and attention, I sleep on a nice cozy couch. I am one very lucky dog. I love my new family and friends and I’ll never be scared again.
